Ross Mason

Ross is a Microsoft Certified Professional who acts as the technical lead on all projects we undertake. Ross gained a Software Engineering Degree from Sheffield Hallam University in 2003 and continues to keep his knowledge up to date by undertaking and completing Microsoft Certified training. Ross has 7 years experience of Software Development in a variety of scenarios.

Project Management / People Management:

• As senior developer at Bootroom New Media Ross was the technical lead for all projects offering guidance for two junior developers and directly responsible for managing the delivery of projects.

Classic ASP:

Employment History

August 2006 – Present:      Director – Inflecto Systems, Unit 30, 53 Mowbray Street, Sheffield S3 8EN

Started formally trading as Inflecto Systems and is directly responsible for the day to day management of the company, this includes marketing, sales, bid writing, client negotiations and project management and development. The company has evolved from initially working on small projects and websites, to larger more substantial projects.

In August 2006 formal negotiations led to the winning of a large contract with Quality Health to integrate an Optical Mark Recognition system into there current questionnaire management system. This system handles vast volumes of questionnaires, which is responsible for generating performance statistics on NHS trusts for the healthcare commission. Along with the integration project we took over the responsibility for ongoing maintenance and support for the entire system.

In February 2007 after a period of intensive work Inflecto Systems moved into offices and begun looking for extra work. Since then we have worked on an engineering application for HRS services that performs the calculations for air testing buildings to Part L of the new building regulations. I have also undertaken consultancy work for Vivid Creative, a design and PR agency based in Sheffield, mainly based around developing a content management system and assisting with putting sites into the content management system.

January 2006 – August 2006:      Software Engineer – CSE Servelec Ltd, Rotherside Road, Sheffield S21 4HL

• Part of a team approximately 30 strong performing development on Servelec’s Rio product which provides community and mental health patient administration services for the NHS across London.
• Consulting and meeting with the Healthcare Commissions approved National Program for IT provider for the London Area (BT) to establish specifications and to develop the training system used to train all NHS employees across the London area.
• Solely responsible for working on a customised version of Rio which used the Rio forms functionality and bed management functionality for the Strutton Housing Association which works across the London Area.

April 2004 – December 2005:      Senior Developer - Bootroom New Media, 11 The Crofts, Rotherham S60 2DJ

• Technical lead supervising two other developers.
• Initially mainly responsible for building a content management system (CMS) from the ground up based on the old CMS. I implemented an object orientated design to encourage code reuse, decrease the development time associated with creating a new site for the client. Reducing the load of the website on the server and provide extra functionality for the end user. Technologies used in developing the CMS include ASP, VBScript, SQL Server, JavaScript and CSS.
• Jointly responsible for re-evaluating and re-configuring the internal IT systems - increased the security and functionality of the domain by configuring such components as Microsoft Exchange, improving the communication and organisation of the company and implementing a VPN solution which allowed employees to work from home or gain access to crucial service from home in a support situation.
• Supporting, securing, upgrading and maintaining our co-located servers running IIS and SQL server in an environment that demanded constant uptime along with supporting several internal development servers.
• Occasional direct consultation with high profile clients and ultimately responsible for ensuring everything was running smoothly and to their requirements.
• Visiting clients and conducting meetings to obtain requirements and day to day management of projects.

July 2003 – April 2004:      Support Consultant – CSC, Manor Offices, Old Road, Chesterfield S40 3QT

• Providing the infrastructure and support for the Royal Mail’s computer systems following the acquisition of the contract by the Prism alliance along with BT and Xansa.
• User support specialist within the “first line support team” based at Chesterfield that provides first line support for the whole Royal Mail network.
• Providing first line support for hardware, network and software issues on a mainly Windows Server Architecture which included supporting over 500 different applications including Microsoft Office, Lotus Notes, SAP and Siebel.

January 2001 – September 2002:      IT Assistant - QSIT Ltd, Millennium Way, Chesterfield S41 8ND

• Years work placement completed in conjunction with degree studies.
• Supporting the IT infrastructure for the CS2 group of companies and creating custom software for use within the group.
• Main duties were maintaining, creating and updating the extensive internal Intranet and external sites belonging to the group.
• Duties included training employees on web based technologies and gained experience of creating software applications to supplement the legacy legal case management system and created customised software to record phone call information collected on CS2’s multiple call centres.
• Provided functionality and reporting functions for high profile clients such as Direct Line and Norwich Union.
